Richmond officer memorial set By Robert Salonga Contra Costa Times A memorial for a Richmond officer killed in a car crash over the weekend has been set for Tuesday at Sleep Train Pavilion in Concord, according to the city's Web site. The memorial for Officer Brad Moody will be held at 11 a.m. The service will be the second at the amphitheater for a Contra Costa County officer who died in the line of duty in just more than a month: On Sept. 11, a memorial was held there for Martinez police Sgt. Paul Starzyk, who was killed while responding to a domestic dispute that erupted into a gunbattle. Moody, 29, was taken off life-support at a regional trauma center early Tuesday after being declared brain-dead by doctors following the Saturday morning accident. Before he died, Moody, who was an organ donor, was able to save the life of a patient at a San Francisco hospital who was in desperate need of an organ transplant and until Tuesday morning had been given less than a day to live, Richmond police Lt. Mark Gagan said. Moody spun out and crashed his patrol car into a light standard on Marina Bay Parkway on Saturday morning. The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
